It’s no secret that the biggest drain on battery life for a digital camera is the LCD and the light it emits. With that in mind, we must consider how we use the battery supply we have. My rule of thumb is, if I haven’t touched the camera in the past minute, allow the LCD to go to sleep and preserve battery life. You will be assured the camera is still operating and the GPS is maintaining your fix and position by indication of the green LED light on the GPS module. To wake the camera up, simply push any button.
To do this:
1. Navigate to the camera’s MENU and within the SETUP tab, set the DISPLAY OFF to 1-MIN.
2. Set the LCD BRIGHTNESS to a minimum setting for your conditions.
